It will be an IMA of novelties: when the International Trade Fair for Amusement and Vending Machines opens its gates from 13 to 16 January 2009 at the Düsseldorf Exhibition Centre, the exhibitors will showcase various new and interesting products, as a successful start into the new business year. “For us, every year IMA is the leading trade fair for the new year and the entire industry,“ explains Mario Hoffmeister, Head of the Central Business Unit Communication of Gauselmann AG. “So we set ourselves up accordingly, and our customers may well be curious about the products that will be on show at the Group’s trade fair stands. There will definitively be a large number of new products and  product refinements, quite simply products which will make our customer’s cash tills ring in the coming year.“

MEP Brok to open IMA 2009

10/10/2008

Düsseldorf. Elmar Brok, Member of the European Parliament, will open the International Trade Fair for Amusement and Vending Machines (IMA) on 13 January 2009. In doing so, Brok continues the series of prominent speakers to open this leading international fair. Last year, the Parliamentary Secretary in the Federal Ministry for Economics and Technology, Dagmar Wöhrl, opened the fair with a political keynote address, one year previously the Minister for Innovation, Science and Technology of North Rhine-Westphalia, Prof. Dr. Andreas Pinkwart, had emphasised the innovative strength and economic significance of the amusement and vending machine industry. This year’s opening ceremony will take place on the first day of the fair at 11 a.m. in Hall Nord A (via Nord B IMA-Entrance).

On average, between 50 and 60 bowling centres are opened every year in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. On average, each one has 13 to 14 alleys. The cost of the equipment per alley (bowling balls, pins, etc.) can amount to 30,000 euros. Added to this are the investments for catering facilities, furniture and other equipment as well as the costs for installing the bowling alleys. A not insignificant investment, which can well be profitable, since the interest in bowling continues unabated.

IMA 2009 to open with more than 200 exhibitors

05/08/2008

IMA is growing: next year, the International Trade Fair for Amusement and Vending Machines will open in Düsseldorf with more than 200 exhibitors and again occupy Halls 8a and 8b. This will already be the third time that IMA will be staged at the Düsseldorf Exhibition Centre since its transfer from Nuremberg. The host, the German Amusement and Vending Industry Association (VDAI) is proved right by IMA’s success: this year 8,850 trade visitors from Germany and abroad came to catch up on new developments in the amusement and vending machine industry. Growth could be reported in every area: IMA 2008 showed an increase in visitor numbers of eight percent, exhibitors numbers grew by 15 percent and exhibition surface by almost 20 percent. Just under 19,000 sqm of exhibition surface were booked (2007: 16,000 sqm).

IMA 2008: Exhibitors enlarging their stand surfaces - Dagmar Wöhrl to open IMA 2008

07/12/2007
IMA 2008 is growing: to date, more than 160 exhibitors from 14 countries have made firm bookings for their stand space at the International Trade Fair for Amusement and Vending Machines. They will occupy an exhibition surface of almost 19,000 sqm, representing a 20 percent increase compared to last year’s event (2007: 16,000 sqm). Among the main reasons for this great leap is not only the fact that quite a number of companies from Germany and abroad that are newcomers to the fair will now exhibit at IMA.

Exhibition surface increasing by almost 20 percent, growing interest among exhibitors in Germany and abroad as well as a markedly livelier interest from visitors: with almost three months to go until the opening of the fair, everything now indicates that IMA 2008 will continue on the growth course it embarked upon since it changed its location from Nuremberg to Düsseldorf.

Passed the “baptism by fire “: New exhibition hall for IMA 2008 meets all expectations

15/10/2007
It passed its baptism by fire: the new exhibition hall IMA is going to occupy has already fully met exhibitors’ and visitors’ expectations. It saw its opening event in September with viscom - International Trade Fair for Visual Communication which was also under the management of IMA Director Petra Lassahn. And Lassahn is more than satisfied: “The three days of the fair have shown that the new hall situation provides ideal conditions.“ The new hall is located opposite the existing Hall 8a which was already used for IMA 2007. IMA 2008 will occupy both halls. In 2007 the organisers VDAI still had to resort to a temporary exhibition hall in order to meet growing demand for exhibition space.

90 metres in length, three metres in width, six metres in height and weighing 40 tons - those are the specifications for each of the steel joists that are currently being put up at the building site at Düsseldorf Exhibition Centre. They will carry the weight of the roof for the new exhibition hall 8b which will be ready to be used for the first time in the autumn of this year.

From 2008 onwards, IMA will run for four days - High visitor numbers make extension necessary - Incorporation of a second trade fair hall

05/04/2007
From 2008 onwards, IMA will extend its duration from currently three days to four, the Verband der Deutschen Automatenindustrie (VDAI) decided at its Board meeting in Berlin. The aim of spreading the fair over a longer period is to provide a better service for the large number of visitors to IMA in future.
